Department of Diabetes at the Pediatric University Hospital in Sofia works as a national centre for treatment and education of children with diabetes since 1975. Its electronic register includes about 4500 patients with newly diagnosed diabetes, among them 950 aged under 18 years. We are following many children with genetically established monogenic diabetes. At present we have recognized 3 patients with Berardinelli-Seip syndrome and one patient with partial lipodystrophy. These 4 patients have no genetically established forms of the diseases.
Topics of interest
- Monogenic forms of diabetes from clinical point of view
- Syndromes of lipoatrophy/lipodystrophy
